‘Scouting is about being with friends, as a part of a team, participating fully in the adventure and opportunity of life.’

Eddy Morris,

Group Scout Leader

Welcome

An Introduction to the 1st Stanmore Scout Group

Since its re-formation in 1994, the 1st Stanmore Scout Group has always been very active and at the centre of community life in and around Stanmore.

We are the home of Scouting in the Canons Park/ Wemborough Road/ Marsh Lane area of Stanmore. We currently have a membership of over 130 young people from the surrounding area spread across 3 sections.

We have 2 Beaver Colonies for ages 6 to 8, 2 Cub Packs for ages 8 to 10 and a half and 2 Scout Troops for ages 10 and a half to 14 as well as supporting a district based Explorer Scout Unit for those aged 14 to 18.

Please note that due to the continued success of our group from time to time some of our sections operate waiting lists. These could be drastically reduced if more adults offered to come along and help out. We would not embarrass you by asking you to lead the Cubs in a rendition of Gin-Gan-Gooly; we simply need like minded adults with a sense of fun and adventure, and with an ability to connect with young people, please consider helping a successful group to continue to thrive.

We are well funded, with no jumble sales taking up your valuable time, time that we believe is best spent giving our young people the most rewarding Scouting experience possible whilst we work towards instilling in them a sense of belonging to their Colony, Pack, Troop or Unit as well as their wider community.

We help build life skills, a sense of self worth and an ability to understand the need to look after both our environment and each other, which we hope will be of benefit to both themselves as individuals, their families and their community, amongst all of this we still manage to pack in a large element of fun in everything we do. We will offer you free training to a national standard and are happy for your contribution to be as flexible as your circumstances allow, all we ask in return is that you undertake to fill in a C.R.B. disclosure form and follow The Scout Association’s child protection policies and guide lines.
